Volunteer Presenters for Kids Law Day Needed

Kids Law Day 2024 is coming back this April!  After a time out during the Pandemic, we are excited that Kids Law Day is back. Kids Law Day is a program that brings Attorneys, Judges, Paralegals and Legal Secretaries into Sacramento area elementary classrooms for an hour-long presentation.   This is a team event!  Two legal professionals will present in each classroom – one an attorney or judge, the other a paralegal or legal secretary. ,At this time, eight local Sacramento schools have asked for this program to come into their 4th, 5th and 6th grade classrooms!  Nearly 1000 students in over 35 classrooms will be ready to listen and interact with us!  We have the privilege of inspiring these young minds to think about a career in the legal profession and the importance of the legal profession in our civilized society.

Kids Law Day is a great opportunity for you to get “out of the office” and into a classroom of kids.  The teachers will appreciate the break too!  Your team will discuss their respective professions and how they bring meaning to their lives and value to the community.   Your presentation will not be a boring lecture.  Instead, your team will be interacting with the students in a variety of ways, such as, telling personal stories, sharing interesting case studies, answering kids questions, and leading a short mock trial skit with students reading lines and the rest of the class deliberating as the jury!  At the end of the presentation, each student will be given some school supplies as a gift.

Our priorities.

Kids Law Day

Kids Law Day is an annual series where several elementary schools host legal professionals including lawyers and judges in classrooms. These professionals give presentations about the legal field and answer students questions giving kids the opportunity to get to know the “softer” side of the law. Each student gets a backpack of supplies. This year SCBF is raising money to be able to distribute a “Know your rights” coloring book.

Your impact on Sacramento County.

The Sacramento County Bar Association & Foundation is responsible for contributing to scholarships and grants throughout the community. Last year, SCBA and SCBF donated over $8,000 in scholarships and grants to community organizations.
