Like many of you, we begin with a vision. We take a path, or two, that lands us where we are today, standing before a room full of aspiring young attorneys.
In sharing information about public interest law with 20 or so summer law clerks, we hope to have inspired your "heirs of the law" to help someone less fortunate along their way to greatness. Such help may come in many forms. We hope that the legal community will support Legal Services of Northern California, volunteer your time to help someone less fortunate, or even seek a full-time career in public interest law. (See www.lsnc.info for ideas.)
The concept of meeting interns within our community began with a suggestion from Jeff Galvin at Downey Brand. It's been a great program and an important part of our community outreach. Downey Brand always sends plenty of pizza, students hear about legal aid, and they have an opportunity to network in a casual environment.
This year several firms sent students to take a break, learn more about the legal community, and get a chance to know each other. Thank you: Downey Brand, Weintraub Genshlea Chediak & Sproul, Donald De Shaw, Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, Cook Brown, Somach Simmons & Dunn, Carlton DiSante & Freudenberger, Seyfarth Shaw, Jackson Lewis, Rediger McHugh & Hubbert.
