FBA Chapter Has Active Summer

In July, the Sacramento Chapter of the Federal Bar Association held its annual Supreme Court Term In Review luncheon at the Tsakopoulos Library Galleria. Over 100 judges, lawyers, summer associates and legal scholars were treated to an informative and entertaining presentation by Professors Clark Kelso and Alan Brownstein.

In August and September Magistrate Judge Gregory Hollows and Operations Support Supervisor Keith Holland explained the new policies and procedures for Case Management/Electronic Case Files ("CM/ECM") to two full-house audiences gathered at Downey Brand's new multipurpose room. The presentation included a live internet demonstration and question and answer session. With specified, limited exceptions, effective Monday, January 3, 2005, electronic filing must be utilized by all attorneys in all cases in the Eastern District. Information about electronic filing will be included in the next issue of Sacramento Lawyer and is also available on the Eastern District's website at www.caed.uscourts.gov.

Upcoming FBA events include a luncheon presentation on Technology in the Courtroom, the annual "Making Merry with the Magistrates" Sidebar (a members only event), and the annual dinner.
