Sacramento Law Foundation's "Instant Wine Cellar" Raffle is an Instant Success

The Sacramento Law Foundation has continued its tradition of raising funds through a raffle, with the prize being an "Instant Wine Cellar" - sixty bottles of fine wine donated by various members of the bar. The foundation thanks our local attorneys for supporting the Law Foundation and sharing their good taste in wine with their lucky colleagues. The firm of Weintraub Genshlea Chediak & Sproul won the grand prize of sixty bottles of fine wine and Joyce Wright won a second-drawing prize of a Methuselah (huge) bottle of Shenandoah Vineyards Zinfandel.

The raffle effort netted almost $6000 for the foundation's grant program, through which the foundation's Board of Directors select deserving local programs that "contribute to the quality and accessibility of justice, the honor and integrity of the legal profession and to civic education." Your foundation has supported the annual local Mock Trial and Moot Court Competition among high school students, mediation programs, VLSP, scholarship programs for law students, high school law academy cadets and outstanding contributions and successes in the Volunteers in Parole program, as examples of the good work we do in the name of the local legal community.

The foundation thanks the folks who contributed the wine for this year's raffle, totaling approximately $2500 in value! Those contributors' names were added to the bottles of wine they donated, so the winners can know whose good taste they should compliment when they enjoy each bottle. The biggest contributor this year was the law firm of Weintraub Genshlea Chediak & Sproul, whose generosity was part of their celebration of their 25 year anniversary. Ironically, the firm then won their donation right back, with the winning raffle ticket drawn by Presiding Judge Michael Garcia. Generosity is rewarded!
