Angela
Tillotson, who has worked for the Department of Corrections
for several years, was named Director of the Volunteers
in Parole for the Sacramento region. She was introduced
to the Sacramento Legal Community at a reception, attended
by long time V.I.P. supporter and former board member, Judge
Gary Ransom and Angel Sevilla, who was also
recognized for his two years of work as director. Currently
there are over 50 attorneys from Sacramento that are matched
with parolees in a mentoring relationship. Statewide there
are hundreds of such matches and V.I.P. boasts the recidivism
rate for the mentees is only a fraction of that of paroles
who do not avail themselves of the program. Ms. Tilloston
takes over thriving program with hopes of creating even
more matches.
Bruce
Janigian, former head of the international business
and government relations sections at Weintraub
Genshlea Chediak Sproul and former chair of the
SCBA International Law Section, recently opened his own
practice with the same areas of emphasis: The
Law Offices of Bruce Janigian. The global firm
is affiliated with business and government lawyers in Washington
D.C., and around the world. In addition to his practice,
Janigian recently was honored with the outstanding faculty
award of Golden Gate University, where he teaches international
business management for the MBA program. A former Fulbright
Professor of Law, he also continues to lead the USA delegation
in the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, headquartered
in Vienna, Austria.
Trainor
Robertson is pleased announce that Colby A.
Campbell has been elected a shareholder with the firm.
Campbell joined the Tax, Business and Estate Planning Section
of Trainor Robertson in 1993 after moving from the Bay Area.
Since that time, she built a successful practice in complex
estate planning, business planning and entity formation.
Her clients include high net-worth individuals, real estate
developers and business owners. Colby received her bachelor's
degree from the University of California Berkeley. She earned
her law degree from Santa Clara University and after law
school earned her master's in taxation from Golden Gate
University. In addition to her busy law practice, Colby
currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Sacramento
Children's Home.
Hanson,
Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos and Rudy, LLP is pleased
to welcome John B. Reece and Alison P. Sandman
to its Sacramento Office. Reece will serve as an associate
in the firm's litigation section. Reece comes to Hanson
Bridgett from Kronick, Moskovitz,
Tiedmann & Girard. Reece received his juris
doctor and master's degree in business administration from
Santa Clara University and a bachelor's degree in economics
from the UC Davis.
Sandman
was formerly with the Law Offices
of Longyear, O'Dea and Lavra, LLP, where she
handled employment, civil rights and tort defense matters
for public entities and private individuals and corporations.
Sandman received her juris doctor degree from the University
of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1995. She also
has a master's degree in sports and fitness from the University
of Rochester.
Concurrent
with Reece's and Sanderman's apperance in the Sacramento
office is the advancement of Sue Ann Van Dermyden
to the senior counsel position. That position has been established
by the firm to recognize those associates who have demonstrated
a high level of skill and performance and have a range of
skills likely to be of continuing importance and value to
the firm's clients. Van Dermyden works within the firm's
labor and employment section where she specializes in workplace
investigations involving allegations of employee misconduct
for both private and government clients. In addition, she
is responsible for creating and presenting advanced seminars
on conduction, effective internal investigations. She earned
her law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge
School of Law in 1993 and received her undergraduate degree
at California State University, Chico.
Drew
M. Johnson practices with the firm of Nageley,
Meredith & Miller. He received his juris
doctor degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge
School of Law, in 1967. Johnson was admitted to the California
State Bar, 1967, Utah State Bar, 1988 and the Eastern, Northern,
Central and Utah U.S. District Courts; U.S. Court of Appeals,
Ninth Circuit. He currently is a member of State Bar of
California, Sacramento County Bar Association, Legal Advisory
Committee of the Associated General Contractors of California.
Ilene
Goldstein Block has joined
Livingston & Mattesich after five years in
practice as Block & Associates.
Ms. Block advises owners and executives on their business,
financial, real estate and estate planning matters. Her
clients include EA Consulting, FirstLine, Scribner Plastics,
OctoClean Franchising Systems, Restoration Resources, and
Pacific Coast Breaker. Block has been practicing law since
1984, the year she graduated from the UC Davis' King Hall
School of Law. Her background includes six years as corporate
counsel for Sacramento Savings Bank, The Restaurant Enterprises
Group, and the Price Waterhouse Tax Department. She is a
founding director of the Women's Financial Resource Network
and a driving force behind renewed efforts by the Sacramento
Aquarium Committee to put a fresh water aquarium on the
Sacramento riverfront.
Maureen
A. Sullivan has joined McDonough,
Holland & Allen. Sullivan is a member of
the firm's health section, where her practice includes health
care operational, regulatory and litigation matters. Before
coming to McDonough, Holland & Allen, Sullivan was Acting
Chief for the California Department of Health Services/Licensing
& Certification in Sacramento, California. At the Department
of Health Services, Sullivan supervised all issues relating
to health policy, legislation and regulations affecting
licensing and certification. She drafted and disseminated
regulations addressing licensure of facilities and provider
categories under Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations.
In 1994, Sullivan was a member of the joint team for the
White House, which included members of the Health Care Reform
Task Force and Office of Presidential Communications which
charged developing the Health Care Reform Information Center
that provided information about the White House's health
care reform initiative. Sullivan received her J.D. in 1991
from Golden Gate University School of Law, San Francisco,
California, and a B.A. in 1975 from Rhode Island College,
Providence, Rhode Island.
Kristina
M. Hall has also joined McDonough,
Holland & Allen, where she is a member of
the firm's employment practice group. She handles primarily
litigation matters. Prior to joining the firm, Hall exclusively
represented management in all aspects of labor and employment
law. Hall received her J.D., in 1998, from Brigham Young
University, J. Reuben Clark Law School, Provo, and a B.A.,
Magna Cum Laude, in 1995, also from Brigham Young University.
The
Sacramento-based law firm of Weintraub
Genshela Chediak Sproul announces that Curtis
C. Sproul has been elected as chair of the California
State University, Sacramento Community Advisory Board. His
term continues through the 2003-2004 academic year. Mr.
Sproul's ongoing involvement with the university has included
participation on search committees, as a member and chair
of Capital Public Radio Board and as a member of the University
Foundation Board. The Community Advisory Board is an entity
comprised of professionals that maintain a dialogue going
between community leaders and the university.
