Hanson, Bridgett, Marcus, Vlahos & Rudy has added two attorneys to its Sacramento office.

Sacramento Assemblyman Darrell Steinberg will join as of counsel, further strengthening the San Francisco-based firm’s fast-growing government relations and ethics practice. Steinberg’s practice with Hanson Bridgett will begin in December as he completes his third term in the State Assembly with a distinguished record and honors for his hard work, leadership, and commitment to good government.

Environmental attorney Michael L.F. Buck has joined Hanson, Bridgett’s Sacramento office as partner effective December 1, 2004. Buck, formerly a partner at McDonough Holland & Allen PC, was recently named by the Daily Journal Corporation to this year’s “Top 20 Under 40” list of the top 20 attorneys under 40 in California. Previously, he was appointed by former Governor Pete Wilson to be the Assistant General Counsel of the California Environmental Protection Agency, where he coordinated enforcement activity of Cal/EPA’s Boards and Departments.

Buck’s experience includes all aspects of environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement defense, as well as expertise gained from handling literally hundreds of real property transactions and cleanups involving contaminated properties. He received his J.D. in 1993 from the University of Colorado School of Law, and his B.A. from the University of California, Davis in 1990.


The Cal Aggie Alumni Association of UC Davis has recognized Monteau & Peebles partner Christina V. Kirk Kazhe as the 2004 recipient of its Young Alumna Award. The award honors Kazhe for outstanding contributions to the community as a professional and UC Davis graduate. It is presented to a single UC Davis graduate each year.


Trainor Robertson announced that Katherine “Kate” Hart has joined the firm as a land use attorney. Hart will assist clients with the entitlement of their real estate projects, including issues relating to the California Environmental Quality Act. Hart was previously with the firm of Reed Smith (formerly Crosby Heafey) in Oakland, where she has worked on numerous large development projects in the Bay Area, including a hotel, a concrete batch plant, and master-planned communities. Prior to working at Crosby Heafey, Hart served for a time as the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Pittsburg. She is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Building Industry Association, and the Real Property Section of the Sacramento County Bar Association. She is a graduate of Santa Clara University and McGeorge School of Law.


Felderstein Fitzgerald Willoughby & Pascuzzi LLP has named Douglas D. Kaber as the firm’s newest associate attorney. He started with the firm on August 16, 2004. Kaber graduated from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, with Great Distinction in 2003, and spent his first year as a lawyer practicing in the Bay Area, prior to moving with his family to Sacramento. Kaberjoins the firm’s professional team of lawyers concentrating on bankruptcy and insolvency matters.


Larry Duran has joined the Sacramento City Attorney’s Office as a Senior Deputy City Attorney, working as a litigation attorney. Duran most recently worked for the Sacramento County Counsel’s Office for nearly ten years, where he practiced in a variety of civil practice areas. Prior to that, he worked with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for about five years. Before that, Duran worked with the California Office of Legislative Counsel. He received his B.A. from the University of Colorado-Boulder; his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; his M.B.A. from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, DC.
