Attorneys
Ken Malovos and
Joanna Mendoza announce
the formation of their firm, Malovos & Mendoza,
LLP. Also joining the
firm as of counsel is Craig
Lundgren. All attorneys were formerly
with Livingston & Mattesich
Law Corporation.
Malovos,
former President of the Sacramento County Bar Association,
will continue to emphasize
his work as a mediator and arbitrator. He will also continue
his business litigation practice. Malovos has been practicing
law
in Sacramento for over 30 years as a trial lawyer and litigator,
emphasizing complex business litigation. He has represented a
wide range of businesses in virtually every type of business
dispute.
He is the founding chairman of the Construction Law
Section of the Sacramento County Bar and is Past President of
Legal Services of Northern California. He previously served as
the County Bar’s delegate to the American Bar Association
and is
a master of the bench (emeritus) of the Anthony M Kennedy
American Inn of Court. He has taught trial practice at UC Davis
and Hastings Law Schools and is a frequent lecturer in
Alternative Dispute Resolution, Trial Practice and Construction
Law for continuing legal education classes. He serves as a
Superior Court Judge pro tem and judicial arbitrator and is a
member of the panel for the American Arbitration Association.
He is a graduate of Stanford University and the University of
California, Hastings Law School in San Francisco.
Mendoza
focuses her practice on complex business litigation,
including intellectual property disputes including trade secret
misappropriation, as well as patent, trademark and copyright
infringement. Her practice also includes licensing, registrations
and representation of local media personalities. She currently
serves as an Eastern District Lawyer Representative for the Ninth
Circuit Judicial Conference and on the Executive Committee of
the Intellectual Property Section of the California State Bar.
She
is an active member of the Sacramento Chapter of the Federal
Bar Association. She is a past chair of the Intellectual Property
Section of the Sacramento County Bar and a past member of the
Bar Council. She is a graduate of UC San Diego and UC
Berkeley’s Boalt Hall School of Law.
Lundgren
has a broad litigation background and emphasizes
construction law and complex business litigation in his practice.
He is a member of the Construction Law Section of the
Sacramento County Bar, the Association of General Contractors
and the Sacramento County Builder’s Exchange. He lectures
in
construction law and is a member of the Milton Schwartz
American Inn of Court. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley and UC
Davis’ King Hall Law School.
Orrick,
Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP announces the addition of three
associates to the firm’s Sacramento
office.
Stacy
E. Don joins the firm’s
litigation department. She is a 2003
graduate of UC Davis’ King Hall
School of Law, where she was a
member of the UC Davis Law
Review and moot court participant. Stacy also completed an
externship with Magistrate Judge John Moulds of the United
States District Court, Eastern District of California. Stacy
received her B.A. in Political Science from the UC Berkeley in
May 2000.
Galen
T. Shimoda joins the firm’s employment department.
Shimoda is a 2003 graduate of the University of the Pacific’s
McGeorge School of Law, with distinction, Order of the Coif.
Shimoda was also the Editor-in-Chief of The Transnational Lawyer.
Galen is also working on an MBA from California State University
at
Sacramento. Galen received his B.A. in Asian Studies and B.S.
in
Business Management from the University of Utah in August 2000.
Bryan
D. Victor joins the firm’s public finance department.
He is a 2003 graduate of the University of the Pacific’s
McGeorge
School of Law, with distinction, Order of the Coif. Bryan completed
an externship with Justice George Nicholson at the
California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District. Bryan
received his B.A. in Organizational Communication from
California State University, Sacramento in May 1990.

Bullivant
Houser Bailey PC recently expanded its
litigation
practice group with the addition of Richard A. Chavez to its
Sacramento office. Chavez has extensive experience representing
employers in a full range of employment related issues, including
discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, civil rights
lawsuits, unfair competition proceedings, and other related
claims. He has represented public entities in matters from
civil
rights claims brought under 42 U.S.C. section 1983, the
Americans with Disabilities Act, and Title IX. Chavez also
has
substantial experience in complex tort claims involving product
liability and premise issues, industrial workplace injuries,
and
construction site accidents. Prior to joining Bullivant,
Chavez was
an associate at Burnham Brown in Oakland. He earned his J.D.,
with distinction, from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge
School of Law in 2001 and received his B.A. from Sonoma State
University in political science and criminal justice. |
