The Sacramento Barristers' Club Barrister of the Month is Daniel George Tichy of Porter, Scott, Weiberg, & Delehant in Sacramento, California.
Daniel is originally from Hillsborough, California and attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo where he played water polo and other varsity sports. His undergraduate studies were at Villanova University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration while playing NCAA Division I water polo. After Villanova University, Daniel decided to follow the footsteps of his grandfather and father and commenced his legal studies at University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law where, among other accomplishments, he earned a certificate in International Legal Studies while studying under U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy in Salzburg, Austria. While at Pacific McGeorge, Daniel served on the Student Bar Association and played for the infamous McGeorge Rugby Club. Like his grandfather, Daniel then chose to continue his legal education at the University of Oregon School of Law where he earned a Juris Doctorate. While at the University of Oregon, Daniel was an Associate Editor for the Oregon Review of International Law.
Daniel's legal experience includes two years as a summer associate at the law offices of Palmer, Kazanjian and Holden in Sacramento where he concentrated on employment law and labor relations. While prosecuting misdemeanor jury trials for the Douglas County District Attorney's Office as a certified law student at the University of Oregon, Daniel's passion for litigation grew immensely. His love for family and friends and the opportunity to work for the fast paced litigation firm of Porter, Scott, Weiberg, & Delehant brought him back to Sacramento.
As an associate of Porter, Scott, Weiberg, & Delehant, Daniel enjoys practicing civil litigation in both state and federal courts, with an emphasis in insurance defense, labor and employment law, civil rights, personal injury and construction defect. He contributes to the legal community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Barristers' Club of Sacramento, for which he helps organize continuing legal education seminars and social functions for local attorneys and judges. Additionally, he participates actively as a player and mentor for the McGeorge Rugby Club.
