The gala reception for our art show, A Creative Merger: Lawyers & Artists, was a huge success. What a wonderful kick-off to this first annual art exhibition which runs from April 14th to May 31st. If you were not able to attend the opening there is still time to view these superb works of art. Also, when this exhibition closes, many of the pieces will be moving on to an exhibit at the Attorney General's Office.

There are two main reasons for having an art show at the law library. The first one is furthering the concept of the law library as a destination-bringing in people that normally would not have a reason to come to the law library. The second reason is to obtain art for the law library. Before the art show, we had many blank walls. As a result of this show, donors so far have purchased at least four pieces to remain on permanent display.

On another note, the law library is an exhibitor at the upcoming 19th Annual Government Technology Conference held in the Sacramento Convention Center from May 11th to the 13th. Mark your calendars: we are having a fund-raising event on Friday June 17th from 6p.m. to 10p.m., Race Ipsa Loquitor - harness racing at Cal Expo! Tickets are $40 for adults and $20 for children 12 and under. Tickets include: admission, Turf Club buffet dinner, a racing program, 12 harness races, commemorative racing glass and much more. Also, we will be conducting raffles for fabulous prizes.
