New Faces -- New Places
By Shirley H. David, Sacramento County Public Law Librarian

Shirley DavidIf you been to the library during the last couple of months you may have met our new public services staff members. Jana Maginness joined the library in March. She may have helped you at one of the Sacramento Public Library branches. She is new to law librarianship and is quickly learning our specialized information resources and search strategies. Jana holds a master's degree in library and information science from San Jose State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in conservation biology from the University of Washington.

Renata Schneider and Helen Ith are sharing night and Saturday circulation desk duties. They are both students. Renata is pursuing her master's degree in library and information science from San Jose State University. She also holds a master of arts in Turkish language and literature from Kagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland. Helen is a student at Sacramento City College and is working toward a degree in social work.

Judy Reil as also joined the staff as an administrative assistant. Most of her work is behind the scenes so you may not see her at the public counters. Judy designs the library ads for Sacramento Lawyer so you do see her work. Judy comes to us after a career with the U.S. Postal Service. If your firm is downtown she may have delivered your mail.

There is a great new website for the entire Sacramento region. It's can be found at www.beehivesacramento.org. It's a consumer-oriented, interactive, self-help website designed to give people information and resources that will help meet their everyday needs. It can be used to access financial and government services, educational resources, jobs, community events, local business and legal resources, and much more. It's available in English, Spanish and Russian. Check it out.
