announces a new associate, Lauren Raskin, to its
business department. Raskin received her J.D. from Loyola
Law School in 1998 and her B.A in French from California
State University, Sacramento in 1990. Prior to joining Downey
Brand, Raskin was an associate with Brobeck, Phleger
& Harrison LLP in San Francisco.
Jeffery
D. Harris has been named a partner of the firm now known
as Ellison, Schneider & Harris LLP. Harris joined
the firm's energy and water practice in 1998. He specializes
is assisting clients who have filed applications with the
California Energy Commission to build environmentally responsible
natural gas-fueled power plants. Harris previously served
as legislative counsel and general counsel to Congressman
Vic Fazio, advising him on energy, water, natural resources,
and environmental legislation and policy. He served concurrently
as associate staff to the House Appropriations Subcommittee
on Energy and Water Development.
Michelle
L. Schreiber has joined McDonough, Holland &
Allen as an associate in the litigation section. She
has experience in several areas of civil litigation, including
commercial litigation, personal injury and employment law
as well as alternative dispute resolution. Schreiber was
the research assistant for MH&A attorney Ann Taylor
Schwing, co-author of Second Edition, The Regulation of
Money Managers: Mutual Funds Advisers, written by Tamar
Frankel. She received her J.D. in 2000 from the University
of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law and holds a B.A.
in Business Administration, Option in Legal Environment,
from California State University, Fresno.

LLP. He will continue to represent the Sacramento business
community in collective bargaining negotiations before the

Genshlea Chediak Sproul announces that Donna N. Shioya
and Cary J. Brunners have joined the firm as associate
attorneys.
Donna
N. Shioya recently joined the labor and employment and dispute,
trials and appeals practice groups. Shioya's practice focuses
on labor and employment, providing advice and counseling
to employers, as well as representing employers in litigation
and administrative hearings at both the state and federal
levels. She received her J.D. from the University of California
Davis, School of Law in 1998 and her B.A., summa cum laude,
from the University of California San Diego in 1993. She
attended the International Christian University, Tokyo,
Japan, 1991-1992. Shioya is secretary of the Asian/Pacific
American Bar Association of Sacramento.
Cary
J. Brunner joins the corporate, securities and financial
institutions practice group. Brunner's practice focuses
on private and public companies' business planning scenarios
including corporate and other business entity formations,
protection of intellectual property, corporate financing,
employee equity incentive plans and mergers and acquisitions.
Brunner received her J.D., cum laude from Pepperdine University
School of Law in 2000 and her B.A., with honors from the
University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997. She attended the
Thames Valley University, Ealing, London, United Kingdom,
1995-1996.
