Liberty Under Law Separate Branches, Balanced Powers

On May 1, 2006, the Sacramento County Bar Association and the Sacramento County Superior Court co-hosted a luncheon in recognition of Law Day 2006 entitled Liberty Under Law - Separate Branches, Balanced Powers. Tani Cantil-Sakauye, Associate Justice of the California Court of Appeal, 3rd Appellate District, was the keynote speaker. Women Lawyers of Sacramento presented the Honorable Emily E. Vasquez with the 2006 Frances Newell Carr Achievement Award. SCBA and Sacramento Superior Court announced the student winners of their joint Law Day Essay and Poster Contests. The student winners received monetary awards made possible by a generous grant from the Sacramento Law Foundation.
