Jorja Jackson is an associate at Littler Mendelson in Sacramento. She attended elementary and junior high school in Elk Grove and, following her father’s job promotion, her family moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area where Jorja attended Woodside High School in Woodside, California. Upon graduation from Woodside, Jorja attended UCLA where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a concentration in Political Theory. Following her graduation from UCLA, Jorja was accepted to the Judicial Administration Fellowship Program, administered by the Judicial Council of California and the Center for California Studies at California State University, Sacramento. Jorja’s fellowship placement was at the Alameda County Superior Court in Oakland, where for two years she staffed the Court’s Community Focused Court Planning Committee. The Committee was responsible for developing community outreach programs and bridging the gap between the public and the court. Her tenure at Alameda County Superior Court and the great legal mentors she worked with inspired her to apply for law school.
In the fall of 2000, Jorja commenced her legal studies at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. While at Hastings, Jorja served as a judicial extern twice: first with Hon. Maria-Elena James, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of California, U.S. District Court in San Francisco and later with Hon. Arthur G. Scotland, Presiding Justice of the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District. Jorja also served as a law clerk with the Judicial Council of California, Administrative Office of the Courts.
Jorja began her legal career as an associate at the law firm of Farmer, Murphy, Smith & Alliston in Sacramento where she concentrated on insurance coverage and defense matters. Her interest in employment law led her to Littler Mendelson, where she advises and represents employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including civil litigation before state and federal courts. In her other activities, Jorja serves as President of the Capital Fellows Alumni Affiliate and as a member of the Anthony M. Kennedy Inn of Court.
