Bart E. Hightower is a fifth-year associate at Porter, Scott, Weiberg & Delehant, where his litigation practice is focused on employment, civil rights, general liability and products liability matters.
Bart received a juris doctorate from King Hall School of Law at UC Davis in 1999. While at King Hall, Bart competed on the Traynor Moot Court team, sat on the Moot Court Board, and served on the law school admissions committee. After law school, Bart began his litigation career at the Modesto law firm of Damrell, Nelson, Schrimp, Pallios Pacher & Silva, where he practiced business litigation and handled commercial transactions.
Bart started his professional life as a newspaper reporter writing for the Stockton Record and Davis Enterprise during his undergraduate years at UC Davis. After completing his BA in political science with a minor in communications in 1992, Bart worked two years for the McClatchy company, writing for The Herald in Rock Hill, SC, and later for the Sacramento Bee weekly publication, Neighbors.
Bart can be found dining out with his wife, Deborah Hightower, a teacher at Westlake Charter School, and their daughters, Kecha and Jahnine. Bart also enjoys competitive target shooting in several disciplines and is frequently found at the Mangin shooting range, Modesto Rifle Club, Yolo Sportsman’s Association or Sacramento Valley Shooting Center. Bart has been a director of several sportsman’s clubs in the Central Valley, including the United Revolver Club in Sacramento, which he served as President and range master last year while shooting his way to a first-place nationwide title in NRA Standard “Bullseye” Pistol competition.
Bart also sits on the judicial selection committee of the local chapter of the Wiley Manual Bar Association, and serves on the board of the Sacramento County Bar Association’s Diversity Hiring and Retention Committee.
