Sacramento Child Advocates Holds Fundraiser

On April 16, 2005, a beautiful Spring evening, Sacramento Child Advocates held its first annual fundraiser. The Supper Club provided delicious food, local wineries donated the wine, and the Carol J. Toca band played outstanding jazz. A good time was had by all.

Two brief 'speeches' by former Child Advocates clients, both of whom are now adults, highlighted the evening. Each young woman described her journey through the foster care system and how, in the words of one, "no matter what happened, I always knew that [her Child Advocates attorney] had my back."

The money raised from ticket sales and from the event auction is already being used to advance Child Advocates' work for children in the dependency system and to continue the Advocates for Young Adults program. The first annual event was such a success that planning for next year's second annual fundraiser has already begun. Thanks to all of the donors for their generosity and to all the volunteers for their many hours of time lovingly devoted to the work for the children.
