The SBCA Annual Meeting

On December 8, 2005, the Sacramento County Bar Association held its Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Hotel in downtown Sacramento. After a few welcoming remarks, W. Stuart Home, III, the 2005 President of the Sacramento County Bar Association, presented the President's Award to Dennis O'Reilly for his tireless work with the Indigent Defense Panel. Stuart also awarded certificates of appreciation to Debra Huston and Darrel Woo for their work preparing for the Annual Meeting, to Bunmi Awoniyi for the Bench and Bar event, to Todd Vlaanderen and Mike Mills for the Law Day celebration, and to Keith Staten and Helene Friedman for making sure that the Holiday Cheer was very cheerful indeed. Stuart stated that these awards, while specific for past SCBA service, were also for future service which might go unrecognized.

Whitney Washburn presented a Special Recognition Award to Winston Langlois, a USC Law graduate who was admitted to practice law in California on January 19, 1940! Thereafter, Darrell Steinberg presented the Distinguished Attorney 2005 award to Tina Thomas. Ms. Thomas also received the Forrest Plant Endowment Award.

The Honorable James M. Mize swore in the new officers of the Sacramento County Bar: Jack Laufenberg, President, Stacy Boulware Eurie, 1st Vice President, Karen Stevens, 2nd Vice President and Christopher Krueger, Secretary/Treasurer. Judge Mize also swore in 2 of the 3 new at-large members of the SCBA Council: Michael Levy and Renee Carter.
