The Labor & Employment Section is devoted to providing an educational and social form for its members to discuss various aspects of labor and employment law. The section is comprised of members with diverse experience and practices in the labor and employment area. From employer-side to employee-side, to neutral practitioners, all labor and employment attorneys will find considerable value in section membership. The section hosts monthly luncheons on a wide range of topics, including: pertinent legislative activity, wage-and-hour issues, employee discipline, workplace investigations, hot issues with the NLRB, healthcare issues, arbitration, and mediation. The section is always looking to grow, to provide for diverse perspectives, and foster meaningful working relationships.
Hello, and welcome back to another season of Labor & Employment Law Section events! We are back from summer break and busily planning our upcoming luncheons—get ready for a season of interesting, informative and cutting-edge programming! I’m excited about our September 20 kick off lunch meeting on Transgender Issues in the Workplace. We will also soon be announcing a mixer, which will be a great opportunity to both reconnect with past colleagues and meet new members of the Sacramento L&E law community. We look forward to seeing everybody.
I would also like to thank our outgoing Executive Committee members, and, in particular, our outgoing Chair, Shannon Shrewsbury, for all of their hard work during their tenure on the Committee. In addition, I am excited to introduce you to our esteemed new Committee members, below. It is lining up to be a great year! Lastly, as always, we want to encourage all of our Section members to feel free to contact us with any questions or ideas about upcoming luncheon topics. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
The Labor and Employment Law Section invites section members and others to submit articles on current issues in labor and employment law and practice for publication in our monthly newsletter. The editors would like the article we publish to reflect and respect the diversity of our membership. Thus, while articles may be written from a particular viewpoint (employee, management, union), whenever possible, articles should address relevant issues from all perspectives.
Articles should be between 750 and 1000 words. Citations are optional but if used, it is the author’s responsibility to verify their accuracy. The editors reserve the right to edit articles for reasons of space or for other reasons, to decline to print submitted articles, or to invite responses from those with other points of view. Please e‐mail your submission to any of the above-listed committee members.
